How to read a supplement label

Supplement labels are full of phrases that are not regulated and mean whatever the brand printing them decides. The one thing on the panel that cannot be spun is the amount of each ingredient per serving. Once you know where to look, you can audit any product on the shelf.
What actually matters on the panel
What matters is the amount of each ingredient in a single serving — not simply that the ingredient is present. A name on the panel tells you almost nothing on its own.
Amount is usually the whole story. An ingredient included at 3 grams is not the same product as one including 300 milligrams of it, and the panel is the only place that difference shows up.
Why token amounts are so common
It is called label dressing, and the economics are obvious. Adding a trace of a well-known ingredient costs almost nothing and buys the right to print a name people search for. Adding a meaningful amount costs real money and takes real space in the tub.
A formula with fifteen recognisable ingredients at token amounts will nearly always out-sell one with five at full strength, because the first looks more generous. The label is doing marketing, not nutrition.
The tell is a long ingredient list on a small serving. The maths simply does not allow fifteen meaningful amounts inside a 6 gram scoop.
How to check any label in two minutes
Pick the one ingredient the product is actually being sold on — the one in the headline, not the vitamin blend. Find its amount per serving on the panel. If there is no amount, only a blend total, you already have your answer.
Then compare that number across the brands you are considering. If one prints a full amount and the others hide behind a blend total, you already know which one is being straight with you.
Do that with one product from each brand you are considering. It is a faster filter than any review, and it cannot be gamed by marketing.
How La Bell builds its labels
Every La Bell formula starts from the amounts and works backwards. If an ingredient will not fit alongside the others at a meaningful amount, the weakest ingredient gets cut rather than everything getting quietly reduced.
The result is shorter ingredient lists than you might expect, on a fully disclosed panel with no blends to hide behind. You can run the two-minute check above on any product in our range — that is exactly what it is designed to survive.
